Brinjal kotsu with moong dal/கத்திரிக்காய் கோசுமல்லி

Ingredients 

Eggplant.        -  2 medium 

Potato.             - 1 very small one 

Moong Dhal.   - 1/3 cup

Onion.             - 1 very small one

Green chillies - 5 to 7 

Tomato           - 1 large 

Turmeric.        - 1/8t easpoon (pinch)

Tamarind purée - 1 tablespoon (Optional)

Seasoning 

Oil  - 1 tablespoon 

Mustard - 1/2 teaspoon 

Urad dhal - 1/2 teaspoon 

Asafetida - 1/8 teaspoon (pinch)


Preparation 

Take a pressure cooker add 2 cups of water. Add moong dhal and add all chopped vegetables along with 

Moongdal. Add salt & turmeric before closing pressure cooker lid. Pressure cook on medium flame till 

first whistle then put sim for ten minutes or three to five whistles. Actually It’s cooks well in few minutes.

 After pressure released open the pressure cooker and bring it to boil. While boiling add tamarind pulp and 

seasoning (take a small pan and add oil when oil gets heat add mustard & urad dal, curry leaves & 

asafetida. Pour it on kosumalli. Now Easy Brinjal Kosumalli ready. Very quick ready recipe. It goes well 

with Idli and dosa.
